We have a few projects in the works regarding our new adventure.
1. Our homestudy has begun. We've had our first appointment and gathered most of our documentation for the social worker. We are in the process of completing the required hours of education and waiting for our doctor's appointments. Our next meeting with the social worker is February 22, I believe. At this meeting, we'll turn in the rest of our paperwork and have another interview. When that is finished, we'll make an appointment for a home visit and then wait for the final homestudy report to be finished. I expect to have it all wrapped up by the first of March.
2. Trip planning has begun. I've filled out our trip application and made our first payment. I received an email from Erica today that gave me a little more information about what we'll be doing while we are in Sierra Leone. We'll be spending time in the orphanage loving on kids, as well as going out into the community and ministering to families who are still living in refugee camps and children who are in hospitals.
3. Fundraisers are on the way. The trip to Sierra Leone will be approximately $4,000. We are going to be doing as much fundraising as we can in order to help cover the expense. I'll be working mostly in conjunction with Warm Hearts Group. The group has a few things planned already. All donations will be tax deductible. If you would like to contribute, feel free to send me a note and I'll give you all the details.
If you would, please pray for the children at The Covering. There are many children there who are malnourished and are in need of physical restoration and healing. They have been through so much in their young lives. Praise God, they now have a safe place to sleep, people to care for them and good food to eat, but they still have a long road to good health.
